AUDITIONS

LSU Students, please read the following information carefully!

It’s Audition Time again for the LSU Department of Theatre!

Please note that the FOLLOWING NEW STUDENTS are REQUIRED to attend Initial Evaluation Auditions and the Audition Workshop: Performance majors, Film and TV majors whose prime focus is acting, and students in all concentrations who wish to appear in LSU productions during their time at LSU. The Evaluation Auditions are held to allow Performance faculty to get to know you and  evaluate the nature of your work as an actor and discuss in some detail what it means to be a professional as you begin your training in our program. You are also required to audition at General Auditions so that ALL directors for the fall Main Stage and LAB shows can consider you in casting their productions.

Please prepare one 90 second contemporary monologue (Mid 19th century forward). Choose a character from a play you know and a character you feel drawn to and in which you might conceivably be cast. Please prepare one 90 second audition monologue from a play (preferably) or screenplay. Ideally, it will be a role that you feel you understand, relate to and might conceivably be cast in; something that you love doing.

Please bring a headshot or other representative photo of yourself to the audition. Don’t worry, you needn’t have professional headshots at this stage but be sure the photo represents your appearance now.

Need a script?  Scripts will be available via a Community Moodle – please email Sydnee Fulmer (sfulmer@lsu.edu) for more information.

*Please review the Undergraduate Handbook for important Casting and Rehearsal requirements as well as the Declaration of Professional Principles and Practices BEFORE coming to audition.
