LSU Theatre presents SAVAGE/LOVE
In July, LSU Theatre students, under the direction of Nick Erickson will travel to Edinburgh, Scotland to present their devised work grounded in SAVAGE/LOVE by Sam Shepard and Joseph Chaikin. Before they travel, the company will present their work for two public performances on Sunday, July 17th at 2p and 7:30p in the Shaver Theatre on the LSU Campus. In addition to this exciting work, guest artist Surya Berthomieux will perform a solo piece entitled AiME. Performances are free of charge.
A fresh look at the love poems of Sam Shepard using dance, aerial, physical theatre and live video. ‘Real and imagined moments in the spell of love’ said Joseph Chaikin. Promises a fusion of desire, obsession, delusion, desperation, and exaltation. Sometimes raw, sometimes sublime, the human drive for love, belonging and acceptance is as strong and as elusive as ever.
